Invitation for Visiting Clinical Attachment (For Post-MDS Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons)
Purpose
Team Reconface invites applications from qualified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons who wish to undertake a short-term Visiting Clinical Attachment. The attachment is intended to provide observational exposure to the clinical workflow of a high-volume Maxillofacial & Reconstructive Surgery service.
Important Disclaimer
This Clinical Attachment is observational in nature. It is not a fellowship, certificate course, diploma, academic programme or educational qualification and does not confer academic credit or recognition under the National Dental Commission Act, 2023. Participants shall not independently examine patients, provide treatment or perform procedures.
Eligibility
- Applicants must possess an MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (or an equivalent recognised postgraduate qualification).
- Applicants should hold valid registration with the appropriate dental regulatory authority, wherever applicable.
- Applications are welcome from Indian and international Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
- Applicants should be able to commit to the agreed period of clinical attachment.
- Acceptance is subject to availability and the discretion of Team Reconface.
Duration
Up to 3 months, subject to mutual agreement and availability.
Clinical Attachment & Observational Activities
- Shadowing: The Visiting Clinical Observer will shadow the full-time AOMSI Fellow as part of the routine clinical workflow.
- Clinical Exposure: The observer may accompany the Fellow during outpatient clinics (OPD), inpatient ward rounds, emergency (ER) calls and operating theatre sessions to gain exposure to patient evaluation, clinical decision-making and perioperative management.
- Case Mix: Exposure to trauma, oral oncology, microvascular reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, TMJ surgery, implantology and other oral & maxillofacial procedures will depend on the clinical case mix available during the attachment period.
- Surgical Assistance: Subject to the discretion of the Chief Consultant and the operating surgeon, the observer may be given the opportunity to scrub for selected surgical procedures and assist the operating team on a case-by-case basis, depending on the clinical requirements of the case, institutional policies and patient safety considerations.
Confirmation of Attendance
Participants completing the attachment may be issued a Letter of Clinical Attachment confirming the duration of attendance.

Learning experience with Reconface team:
Reconface has a very versatile team of well experienced surgeons holding respectable positions in
various educational institutes. Every surgery handled by the team is very well planned and organised
distributing the surgical work equally to all the surgeons in the team to bring the best of the results.
The fellows get adequate hands on in almost every surgery under careful and proper guidance from
the mentors.
Over all view/ experience:
During my 2022 Reconface fellowship, I gained extensive hands-on experience in a diverse array of
maxillofacial surgery areas. This included handling complex cases in facial trauma, head and neck
cancer surgeries, and proficiently performing facial reconstruction with both local and free flaps. I
also honed my skills in patient-specific implants, total joint reconstruction, orthognathic surgeries,
cleft surgeries, and rhinoplasties. Additionally, my exposure to corporate hospital environments
enriched my understanding, as I actively collaborated with ICU teams, ER teams, and
anaesthesiologists across multiple hospitals. Currently I am part of Reconface team and working as a
full time consultant hair transplant surgeon.

fellow. I’ve got the opportunity to witness various procedures from minor oral surgeries to complex
maxillofacial reconstructions including Oral cancer. As it involves multi-disciplinary approach with
other specialities such as Orthopedics, Neurosurgeons and more, it helped me learn about these
colloborative efforts and work as a team.
Over all view/ experience:
I am pleased to note that my fellowship in Maxillofacial and Facial Reconstruction has introduced me
to a variety of cases that surpass the scope of my previous postgraduate experience. My areas of
interest includes Soft tissue reconstruction, Orthognathic surgery, Trauma cases. This exposure has
been instrumental in expanding my knowledge and expertise in the field.
